Dear
Parents, Many
of us have groaned when we have greeted our kids at the end of
a school day to find a spattering of art materials on their clothes. Most of the materials we use; clay, plaster, pencil, chalk
and tempera paints come out easily with simple washing. But, more stubborn stains, usually acrylic paint, will sometimes
need a professional dry cleaning, the sooner the better. I
provide smocks for the students to wear during painting but they
do not cover the sleeve areas. Most
“accidents” occur when children are cleaning up or “messing around”. I
have discussed appropriate behavior for cleaning up and class participation
and hope these messes can be eliminated. We
do what we can to prevent messes and hope you understand that if
your child should get stains on their clothes due to their actions,
that they are responsible for the cleaning of their clothes. After
you have looked over classroom rules and read this letter, please
discuss them with your child then sign and have them return this
form back to me. If you have any questions please feel free to call me
at 995-3000. Also,
I have developed a web page with pictures of student work with
the option of posting only their first name. I
am asking for your written permission to reproduce your child’s
artwork, Also on this website,
you will find a link for homework assignments as well as other
relevant information. Respectfully
yours, Marica
